You will no doubt find your visit a pleasant one. The enemy have not fired any since midnight on Saturday… As I have a great deal to do and very little time you must be patient for a long letter – kiss my Babies for me…’ Shows original mailing folds, with some brushing to the ink and slightly ragged at the left edge, otherwise in fine condition. The letter is accompanied by its original transmittal envelope, on which the general executes his name in addressing his wife ‘Mrs Wm R Boggs’, in black ink. Postmarked at Montgomery on April 29, year indistinct.’ Roughly opened at top, with some rodent damage to the left edge, else very good.
