(1893 - 1946) German politician who began his career as an ace in World War I, rose to become Hitler's right-hand man and head of the Luftwaffe, finally captured, and committed suicide on the eve of his execution. Excessively rare A.L.S. signed 'Goering (H)' at conclusion and 'Goering' in the address are of a postcard sent by him while a prisoner of war (likely at Nuremberg, no date) to his daughter Edda Goring, probably only seven or eight years old at the time and likely interned with her mother in the US-controlled Palace Hotel, code-named Camp Ashcan, at Mondorf in Luxembourg. Goring writes to his much-loved daughter, if full: 'My sweet little sparrow! With great longing I always think of you and Mommy. How are you doing? Be always Mommy’s joy and comfort. I am sure that you will also learn well. Obedience is the best virtue with you. Do you often think of me too? God send you, my dearest child! Daddy is so sad, not being with you in the rooms. Greetings for Mommy, your child full of love, your little Daddy. Sender: GOERING (H)' On the front side of the card, Goring hand addresses the card to Edda in Salzburg, with the address later crossed out and the card stamped 'Zuruck!' ('Return!'). Very good, and certainly one of the rarest Goring letters one could hope to find.
