Description: A large American Victorian bedstead assembled from components of two period walnut beds. The tall headboard has three figured walnut panels beneath a rounded crest ornamented with pierced scrolling foliage and turned finials. The associated serpentine footboard centers a carved scrolling cartouche within a broad figured panel and is flanked by molded posts with carved terminals. The later composite configuration provides generous interior dimensions approaching modern queen size.

The bed is assembled from the associated headboard, footboard, side rails, and hardware of at least two period beds. Retains an old polished surface with scratches, abrasions, fading, finish wear, small edge losses, and slight veneer irregularities. Side rails and support hardware have alterations associated with the conversion. Mattress, slats, and bedding are not included unless otherwise stated.
