PISTOL. Cal. 9mm Luger. S# 228. Bbl. 4". Post-WWI P.08 Luger semi-automatic pistol assembled from a combination of DWM and Erfurt parts, possibly by Simson. The bbl. extension is marked with the original year of mfg. "1918" over the top of the chamber, with an Crown/RC (Revision Commission) proof, x1 crowned proof, and x2 crowns without inspector letters marked on the right, indicating that this bbl. extension was mfg. by Erfurt in 1918 as a spare / replacement. Top left of the bbl. is marked with a Simson Eagle/6, which is partially overstamping an apparent "33". Underside of bbl. exhibits a faint, mostly illegible, unidentified proof, appearing to be an Eagle/M613 or Eagle/M618. Toggle is marked with the intertwined "DWM" monogram. Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall, with some small parts exhibiting a straw finish. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered wood grips. Standard dovetailed blade front sight and fixed V-notch rear sight. All serialized parts are matching, to include the frame, takedown lever, sideplate, trigger, safety lever & bar, hold-open latch, bbl., bbl. extension, trigger bar, breechblock, extractor, firing pin, toggles, and rear toggle pin. Grips are matching via "28" in standard size font, as well as via "228" in large block font. Takedown lever spring is absent. MAGS: x1 blued 8-rd. with non-matching wood plug. CONDITION: metal components retain fait to good amounts of their arsenal blue finish, exhibiting areas of wear and thinning that are fading to gray patina, as well as some scattered spots of light surface oxidation and pitting. Bbl. retains the vast majority of its arsenal blue finish. Bright bore, exhibiting a consistent scattering of light pitting, while retaining good to strong rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Grips show some smoothing, as well as some superficial marks and impressions from handling and storage, but otherwise remain sound. (26-2011/MLW). CURIO. $900-1,200.
