A vintage earthenware cookie jar designed in the form of a textured tree stump with a squirrel finial. The exterior features a relief-molded bark texture with a dark brown, wood-grain effect glaze. It is accented with small hand-painted forest motifs, including a greyish-white mushroom, green leaves, and a cluster of yellow and orange flowers. The lid features a large finial in the shape of a seated squirrel holding a nut. The interior is finished with a glossy dark brown glaze. The underside of the base has an impressed circular mark that is not legible as a name or number.

The jar is in fair vintage condition. The squirrel finial has several chips to the ears and head, as well as extensive glaze and paint loss on the face and body. The inner flange of the lid has a few small nicks and flea bites. The underside of the base shows heavy shelf wear, scratching, and losses to the brown finish along the rim.
