Description
This vintage telegraph learner set was manufactured by the Signal Electric Mfg. Co. in Menominee, Michigan, dating from the early to mid-20th century. Designed for training in Morse code operation, the assembly features a brass straight key and an electromagnetic sounder mounted together on a dark-stained wooden base. The brass key lever is clearly stamped with the manufacturer's mark, "SIGNAL ELECTRIC MFG. CO. MENOMINEE, MICH.", and the underside retains its original paper connection diagram detailing wiring configurations along with vintage cloth-insulated jumper wires. At a estimated auction value of $50 to $90, an $80 valuation is very accurate and realistic for a complete unit with its bottom wiring label intact. The unit exhibits age-appropriate wear, including surface oxidation on cast iron components, patina on brass hardware, minor chipping and scratches to the wood finish, and mild fraying to the wiring attachments. H 3.5", W 7.5", D 4.5". Please see photos for condition.
