(1923-2005) Test pilot of the Bell X-1 supersonic rocket plane, joining the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1941, became the youngest commissioned officer in the RCAF. At the end of 1942, he was recalled by the US Navy and underwent training to become a test pilot.
