Douglas MacArthur (1880-1964) was a General of the Army for the United States, as well as a Field Marshal of the Philippine Army. He served as Chief of Staff of the United States Army during the 1930s and played a prominent role in the Pacific theater during World War II. He is one of only five people to hold the rank of General of the Army, and the only person to hold the rank of Field Marshal in the Philippine Army. 1920 West Point diploma signed as Brigadier General Douglas MacArthur, June 15, 1920, and awarded to Francis Selwyn Gay. The document is also signed by 12 West Point officials and faculty members. Partially printed on parchment, 16 x 21 inches. With a second diploma from the Coast Artillery School awarded to then-1st Lieutenant Francis S. Gay, on July 13, 1921.
