Oscar Boesch joined the German Air Force, the Luftwaffe, in August 1943 and volunteered for Sturmstaffel 1, a new fighter unit formed to lead the effort against enemy bombers. In twelve months as a pilot, Boesch flew 120 combat missions - and was shot down eight times, bailed out four times, and had four crash landings. Signed 7 x 10-inch color photograph of Boesch in the cockpit of a glider plane at the 1995 Sussex Airshow, matted and framed, inscribed: 'Warmest Regards to our Friend Stephan - Oscar Boesch 1995.' Frame 9.75 x 12.75 inches. From the estate of Stephen W. Bumball (1919-2005), a WWII First Lieutenant and US Army intelligence officer in the 103rd Infantry Division (Cactus Division), 307th CIC Detachment, and interrogator in the 970th CIC Det.
