This lot comprises two small carved sculptures. The first is a Japanese netsuke-style figure of a woman, possibly a geisha or fruit seller, standing in a decorated kimono. She is depicted holding a woven basket containing fruit and a closed parasol in her left hand. The figure is carved from an organic material, likely bone, and features incised decoration including floral motifs and geometric patterns on the garments, which are accented with a reddish-brown pigment. The back of the figure is pierced with two cord holes (himotoshi). The flat base of the figure bears a small incised mark consisting of three lowercase Roman characters that appear to read "tom". The second item is a lion figurine carved from a translucent, pale celadon-colored hardstone, potentially jadeite or bowenite.
