Height:6.5cm(2.56in) Width:9.5cm(3.74in) Weight:560g(1.235lb)Fully carved from Hetian pale green jade, the artifact has mild and restrained texture, naturally mottled yellowish-brown infiltration veins and tiny black specks across the surface with aged fissures and profound mature patina. The mythical beast lies recumbent with plump body, its head turned sideways, round eyes and wide open mouth showing teeth. Layered curly mane is delineated by smooth incised lines. Limbs are tucked beneath the belly, tail coiled close to the body, rendering a powerful yet lively posture. It comes with an original carved hardwood stand. Ancient jade beasts symbolize warding off evil spirits and attracting blessings. With primitive and grand form, it is a fine jade carving for display of the Ming Dynasty.
