Landscape painting by Brantley Smith (Tennessee, 1874-1947). Smith studied art in New York at the William Merritt Chase School of Art. Early in his career, Smith had studios in New York City and Newport, R.I. During the winters of the late 1930s and early 1940s, Smith had studios in Boca Raton and Palm Beach, Florida. He taught art at Winchester and Jasper, Tennessee (ref. Portrait Painting in Tennessee - Tennessee Historical Quarterly). Mountain landscape with blooming trees in the foreground. Signed in lower right corner, "Brantley Smith 1933". Appears to be in the original frame. Condition - very good condition. 21 1/4" x 27", 25 1/4" x 31" frame. Circa 1933. Private collection.
