Very rare Russian mo. 1838 Cossack shashka (sword). The blade is made by Gussstahl von Berger & Co. in Witten near Solingen, Germany. Blade is single edged curved with one wide fuller on each side. The blade has Russian arsenal marks (two Cyrillic letters): "B Sh". The rib features stamped Russian Imperial double headed eagle with two Cyrillic letters beneath: "P N". Original wooden grip wrapped in dark brown leather. Brass pommel.
