Sadegh Hedayat is considered one of the most important Iranian writers of the 20th Century. His only novel, 'The Blind Owl', was written in 1936 and is considered a modern literary masterpiece. The Blind Owl has been translated into 15 languages and is still in print in the U.S. and many other countries. This book is an overview of the personal and literary events in Hedayat's life leading to his death by suicide at age 48 in Paris. It is also a memoir of the author growing up in the shadow of Hedayat which to this day remains large in Iran.
