Veteran brought back silver dinnerware from Hitler's Berghof. Included in the lot is 1 cake knife, 1 butter knife, 2 soup spoons, and 2 dessert forks. Each bares the AH insignia with eagle on handle. Insignia edges are crisp and detailed as expected. Very rare formal pattern with Greek border. Marked 800 for silver content and stamped with the Eagle. Cake knife measures 8 5/8", butter knife is 6 3/4", dessert forks are 5 3/4", and the soup spoons are 5 3/5" . Berghof was Adolf Hitler's home in the Obersalzberg of the Bavarian Alps near Berchtesgaden, Bavaria, Germany, where he spent most of his time during the War. After being bombed and then set on fire by retreating SS troops, US 3rd Infantry Division along side French 2nd Armored Division arrived only hours later and looted the home. This lot has a reserve.
