Pre-Columbian, Central Mexico, Aztec Empire, ca. 1000 to 1500 CE. Three hand-carved beads from one of the most storied cultures in ancient Meso-America. First is a small bead with the rough shape and coloration similar to the exterior of an avocado. Second is a cube-shaped bead with an incised depiction of a human head and a horse head on two of the faces; the other two faces are unadorned. Last is a gorgeous, cloud-shaped greenstone bead with shimmering inclusions. Each bead is biconically drilled for suspension. Size of largest (greenstone): 1.125" L (2.9 cm).
