An early 20th century 15ct gold sapphire and seed pearl brooch. Of openwork design, the circular-shape sapphire and seed pearl drop, suspended from a seed pearl ribbon surmount, with circular-shape sapphire highlights. AF. Length 3.4cms. Weight 7.9gms.

Condition

  • Overall condition fair to good. Some surface scratches/ wear, discolouration and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear.
  • Two seed pearls deficient.
  • Brooch with adaptions and alterations.
  • Seed pearls are a creamy white colour, with rose and greenish overtones, in good condition.
  • Without the aid of laboratory equipment, it has not been possible to determine if these seed pearls are from a fresh or saltwater source.
  • Sapphire are well matched, medium blue, in good condition with some abrasion and minor nibbles to the girdle and facet edges.
