Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Jalisco culture, ca. 100 BCE - 250 CE. Hunch back solid pottery seated figure having a white slip surface with medium brown/red painted highlights. The figure is adorned with a headdress, nose ring, and applied armbands. In the Pre-Columbian world hunchback figures were highly revered. Their deformities were understood as signs that these individuals were indeed touched by the supernatural. Size: 3-1/2" H x 3-1/2" W.
