This Collection of SIX (6) Items Relating to the Impeachment of President Andrew Johnson Includes:
1. (3) Impeachment Trial Admission Tickets, Dated: April 25, 1868 in yellow with its Full Stub - EF edges toned; May 1, 1868 yellow no Stub - Fine stained; and May 18, 1868 - violet with its Full Stub, crisp Near Mint.
2. (1) Rare Official “Senate Chamber” Envelope with handwritten, “Impeachment Tickets” noted on its front.
3. (1) December 6, 1866-Dated, Autograph Letter Signed, “W.B. Thomas / Late Collector Port”, 2 pages, Philadelphia, Choice Very Fine. A wonderful, historic content Letter written to Senator John Andrew Jackson Creswell of Maryland. This Letter reads, in part: “I wish to call your attention to a class of cases of Presidential usurpations with which the public seems not to be familiar... I cannot believe that either House of Congress, will thus permit the rights of the Senate to be invaded with impunity, if there was no other offence demanding the impeachment of Andrew Johnson, this I think, is sufficing.” He closes this great political Letter stating, “Ninety percent of the Republican Party desire impeachment and will not be Satisfied with anything less. Hoping that you will lead in this important work and thus Secure the admiration of a loyal people.” Great Political and Presidential Impeachment content, together with a Maryland connection to its Senator!
