A small and well weathered old mask that may have served as a house mask or decoration, showing some obvious age and wear. Baule peoples, Cote D'Ivoire, West Africa. The mask measures 7.25 x 5.25 inches.Ex Prof. Charles Bordogna collection, New Jersey. Professor Charles Bordogna served as curator of the SMA Fathers African Art Museum in tenafly , NJ from 1982 until 1996. Bordogna is the author of several publications on African Art, including "Masks of Liberia", " A Tanzanian Tradition" and "Surfaces: Ritual Application on African Sculpture" (Co-authored with Leonard Kahan, P.Imperato, D. Page) as well as other text's.
