Matching Serial Number Throughout 50563, 7 1/2 in. Barrel, Nickel Finish, Henry Nettleton (H.N.) inspected and believed to have been issued to the US 10th Cavalry. Profusely documented back to the original owner. The gun has been traced back to its roots. Extensive documentation reveals that this Colt SAA was believed to have been used by young cowboy in a saloon shootout. This story and the Colt are the subject of CM Russell's painting "Death of a Cowboy". The historical documentation and story are covered at detail in August 1990 issue of The Gun Report written by Dr. William B. Shugars. An amazing story with excellent provenance this Colt is a one of a kind piece of history. Included is an original Montgomery Ward Holster dated 1902 and a framed print of CM Russell's painting.
