Mikhail Solomonovich Mayofis (1939) is an artist and illustrator. He was born in Leningrad, graduated in 1963, the Repin Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture. He was engaged in easel graphics, painting, etching. In 1962 he illustrated his first book, he designed more than 100 books, among them works by Pushkin, Lermontov, Gogol, Krylov, the tales of the Brothers Grimm, Charles Perrot, Schwartz and many others. He took part in national and foreign art exhibitions, his works are represented in the Russian Museum, the Tretyakov Gallery, in museums and private collections in Russia and other countries. He was awarded the silver medal IBA-77 (Leipzig), the diploma of the Academy of Arts of the USSR and other awards. Today he lives and works in Los Angeles, USA.
