Art Piatt (20th c. California) Large 3 foot x 1 1/2 foot Bronze and Steel Brutalist Caduceus Wall Sculpture with lights. Weight 20 pds. Piatt was a California visual artist whose brutalist style pieces were highly sought after in the 1950s,1960s and1970s. Art Piatt sculptural pieces are now very valuable, rare, and collectible. A Piatt piece was sold at Bonhams Los Angeles Auction from The Charlton Heston Collection in 2016. Piatt's work ranges in size from small figures to monumental trees, fountains and architectural fountains. Some of his best known works are a steel, bronze, plastic and aluminum tree in the collection of Julie Andrews, a 10 foot tall metal tree which is at the U.S. Treasury Buiding in downtown Los Angeles, a seventeen foot high fountain named "The Ascension" at the Woodland Hills Methodist Church and an eight foot high flight of seagulls at the Morman Temple in Salt Lake City. Other institutional and private collectors include Carol Burnett, Polly Bergen, Fritz Low, Gary Owen, the United States Navy, NBC and the Queen Mary.
