COLT ROOT REVOLVER
Item Details
Description
Colt 1855 side-hammer revolver, aka "Colt Root." A candidate for restoration, as the grips were sanded down to Thin Jim style back when the gun was in use. 3.5 inch octagonal barrel. The metal is bright. The barrel markings are VG. Some graying near the muzzle on the top barrel flat. Grips damaged at the heel on both sides. Serial number 2215. One frame screw missing. Unfluted cylinder. The gun is all original and complete except for the aforementioned screw. Mechanics are fairly good but it needs a tune up. The hammer will cock and the cylinder rotates. The cylinder stop or lock does not function. Looks like two small screws are missing from the frame. Tune it up and fix the grips and you will have a thousand dollar Colt.
