949. Sherman Labby archive of original storyboard artwork for 23 films. This incredible archive represents Sherman Labby's life's work of original storyboard artwork for his work on over 23 films. Nine films are completely illustrated by Labby, while 14 others are represented with key scenes in Labby's hand plus production copies for continuity. In a career that spanned three decades, from the 1970s-1990s, Labby worked on over 80 of Hollywood's most important films including: The Blues Brothers, Private Benjamin, Terminator II, Bram Stoker's Dracula, Top Gun, Blade Runner, The Horse Whisperer, Thelma and Louise, 2010 and many more. He also worked with the best directors and production designers in Hollywood including: Ridley Scott, Francis Ford Coppolla, Richard Donner, Kathryn Bigalow, Robert Redford and many others. Archived by Mr. Labby's widow over the past year, the collection fills four legal-size storage boxes with each film in an individual 3-ring binder. In most cases, the pages consist of 3-5 panels of drawings per page, done in pen and ink with charcoal shading. There are literally thousands of drawings from the following films: Bram Stoker's Dracula(approx. 50 pages of 3 panels/page plus Labby's personal script), The Wanderers(approx. 50 original hand-drawn pages of the climactic last fight), Lethal Weapon II(approx. 80 original hand-drawn pages of 3 panels/page), Point Break(approx. 90 original pages of drawings and 40+ pages of thumbnail sketches plus script), Orca(completely hand-drawn storyboard of the entire film, approx. 140 pages), The Incredible Shrinking Woman(completely hand-drawn storyboard of the entire film, approx. 100 pages), Bogus(completely hand-drawn storyboard of the entire film, approx. 180 pages), Congo(complete storyboards with approx. 39 pages of hand-drawn scenes), The Horse Whisperer(approx. 20 pages of hand-drawn original pages of the horse and truck accident plus script and crew sheet), Mercury Rising (approx. 25 original pages of hand-drawn boards of 3 panels/page plus script), among many others. Also included are original scripts and crew sheets whenever possible and blueprint duplications for continuity done by Labby during production.
