BAD
I DIDN'T KNOW THAT YOU DIDN'T CHECK OUT THE ITEMS YOU SELL. YOU HAVE NO PROBLEM TAKING A COMMISION. WHELL I HAD THIS AUTOGRAPHE EXAMINED BY AN EXPERT AND HE SAID TO WAS DEFINITLY A FORGERY. I CALL UP THE PEOPLE AND THEY TELL ME I SHOPULD OF ASKED QUESTION, BUT I THOUGHT YOU DID THAT SINCE YOU TAKE A C OMMISION. I WAS WRONG. EVERYONE PASSES THE BUCK. SO I AM VERY DISSATISFIED.

Gorgeous stone!
Of course, the stone is amazing! What else is amazing is the customer service received from this auction house. Will definitely be dealing with these folks again in the future.

Fake items
888 sells fake art. They are careful to say “this item has the signature of [ artist ].” Well, anyone can sign “Vincent Van Gogh” on a modern painting — that doesn’t mean that it’s by Van Gogh. I hope that people read the reviews and know that they are not buying what they think they’re buying. Disappointed to see that LiveAuctioneers still lets 888 sell items on this site.

STAY AWAY FROM.........
Absolutely disappointed with my experience from 888 Auctions. On getting my items and having a third party verify that they were fake, 888 Auctions refused to refund purchases and said that its my responsibility to make sure the items were real. Don't believe any certificates of authenticity from this auction house.

Great Customer Service
It has been a real pleasure working with 888 Auctions. Their items were of great quality, and when there was an issue with one of the items I ordered, they offered a discount promptly and then sent the items, completely restored, very quickly. I have been impressed with their customer service and look forward to working with them again.

Not my most recommended auction house
At best, 888 is a lazy auction house. Every item lacked descriptions or condition reports, although they did all arrive well packaged. Pretty sure one item is a forgery as well, but their insistence on not doing research is concerning for all items. It should also go without saying that their estimates are complete guesses, without even a base layer of knowledge on their resale value, which is why so many seem to be in the same price range. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this auction house unless there's something for sale you simply cannot live without. Just assume the worst for the piece you are bidding on, unfortunately. If it looks too good to be true, it, unfortunately, might be.

Authentication
Recently I purchased a Gvstav Klimt. It came well packaged, it looks very old however there is no authentication certificate-not sure why?

Smooth Process
I had a question before bidding and it was responded to very quickly. I sought information from the shipper and got a price quote before bidding. I won the item and it is in my house now. I was very pleased with the whole process.

Simple Process
Simple process of registering and purchasing. Requested alternate shipping arrangements that were honored and received my item in good condition before the holiday rush.

A nice collection of 'certified'... glass...
I received five perfectly clean (a near-impossibility for most of the stones I had won) plasticky-looking 'stones', with the same specific gravity (sapphire and tourmaline? really?)-and also the 'certification' cards from a lab supposedly based in India but with a Samoan telephone number !). Too good to be true, certainly-and a total scam. Never again.

A contract is not a contract.
BEWARE! What a con! I was the highest bidder, received a sales confirmation, paid for my purchase and was then informed that this was not being honoured! I wish I had read other reviews before enlisting and bidding as I can see this is not an isolated case. Take my advice and buy elsewhere.

As an auction house that conducts live auctions and accepts bids in multiple ways, including but not limited to phone bidders and internet bidders (and floor bidders, prior to the COVID-19 pandemic), there are cases in which there are multiple competing bids that are accepted for any given lot. Laurence was contacted by email and notified that a winner from another platform was the winner at one bid increment above his accepted bid. Laurence acknowledged the situation, recognized that there was a competing bid and upon requesting a refund for the automatic charge that was processed after the sale, was refunded in full shortly thereafter.

Auction addict@ 888 auctions
I have won several pieces from 888 auctions & I'm so happy with all my pieces. Always do your research on the item you're bidding on. The loose stones are spectacular & can't wait to make pendants for my pearls or on a torque/chain. Very happy to deal with 888 auctions. If any problem arises, they will go out of their way to guide & help you. I would highly reccommend this auction house. Very happy with items & service. Thank you. Cleo

Honest Descriptions & COVID Curbside Pickup
A Canadian auction house with policies in place to safely pick up items pickup. As others have noted, while many or most of the items listed are legitimate, many are in categories that are prone to fakery, and there is no handholding to help you work out the difference. Keep your eyes open and do your research before you bid, as you would with any investment or collection. If nothing else, bid on what you like for the sake of itself, and not for the hopes turning a profit and flipping it. You won't go wrong with that intention.
