This was an example of a smooth and painless process of bidding, payment and shipping. Other auction houses should take note and copy. I cannot say the same about 50 % of the other auction houses. I am an International bidder and most other auction houses are not International-friendly and seem to live in silos with some regular bidders. Thank you Alderfer.

This auction house offers some really nice items at a reasonable bid price. I am especially happy with their shipping department. My items (very fragile bisque dolls 100 + years old) were skillfully and carefully packed and arrived in perfect condition. I hope they offer more in the future!

This was a very disappointing experience for two reasons. I purchased an Amy Kahn Russell carnelian turtle pin for $238, plus $16 for shipping (a lot of money for my modest budget). I was surprised upon receiving it. In the photos the carnelian appears to be a rather vibrant orange-in reality it is a muddy brownish orange and not vibrant in the least. I understand why this happened-I tried to take some photos to email the actual color-and even on my cell phone the photos look much better than in person. Perhaps from the shimmer of the shiny stone? Let me state-I don't believe they were trying to be deceptive. However, they were negligent in not stating in the description that the actual color was much different than their photos. If I had known that the orange carnelian had this muddy brown cast to it, I would never have purchased it. Secondly, I emailed them at the address listed soon after the auction and never received a reply. My most disappointing experience with LiveAuctioneers to date. I won't do business with Alderfer Auctions again.
