When buying older jewelry look very carefully at the pictures.

I was extremely disappointed with the lot description and the illustration of the three works, as shown above. Rago's description stated the following: Dimensions provided are of the largest work. Those were 6 7/8 X 10 1/8. The description also stated that "One work has been laid to backing board." Because no backing board was visible in the illustration, I assumed that the backing board was the same size as the picture. I also drew the assumption that the other two pictures were not mounted. My intent was to frame the three works within one frame in an arrangement similar to the illustration in the lot description. When I was making arrangements with the shipper, I told the UPS store in Princeton, N. J. that the lot I won consisted of three pieces of paper, none larger than 8 X 10. I also told them that one of the pictures was mounted on some kind of backing board. When the items arrived in Canada, I received quite a shock. All three pictures were mounted on oversize backing boards. The largest dimension was 16 3/4 X 14 7/8. The other two were 13 15/16 8 1/8 and 15 5/8 X 7 3/8. There is no way that all three works could be mounted within one frame. Rago cropped the pictures to eliminate the backing boards from the illustration, and they intentionally gave a misleading set of dimensions for the largest work. I am sure they thought they would not be able to sell the lot if they gave an accurate description. They were right. I was the only bidder, and I would not have bought the lot had I known the true dimensions and had I known that all three works, not just one, were mounted on oversize backing boards. Would I bid with Rago again? Probably not. When you can't trust that the description is an accurate and fair one, there is no point. My advice is to ask as many questions as you can, and do not trust that illustrations show the work accurately. The shippers, by the way, were terrific. Stephen, Hamilton, ON, Canada

Hands down the worst auction experience I have had on LA in over three years. This site failed to respond to my query on the piece after I had won the auction-except to get their invoice to me-and they have been un responsive in where my item is-which is now three weeks past due. You will get better customer service from an ebay seller than these people.

Rago Arts is a very professional auctioneer with quality items. I am very pleased with my purchase as well as the service. I highly recommend them.

They were difficult to deal with. I sent six emails requesting an invoice. They said they sent three. The only one I received was after my sixth request. I then had to deal with an administrator who was like a robot. Anyway it’s all completed thank goodness

It is good experience for me to have won this auction house. Actually, it take much time to pack and ship, please do not warry about. No problems.

Throughout the whole buying process Eliane Was superb at Answering questions And Helped Guide me through the process, Then, Once the Piece was bought Kara Took over for payment and she was Just about the Best customer service Representative anyone could ever Ask for, she as in a Word “Rockstar” when I finally got to the Rago arts and auction center, It was very Pretentious and kind of like they say “You never want to meet your Hero” My other half I was with Said They’d never Been treated like such inferior, Not worthy People before (and this from a life saving professional) I felt the chill too of Being Unwelcome also, But then When Kara came out all that turned around in an instant, I asked if I could read an auction results book she Gave it to me, She spent a few moments telling me about the auction house and that theyMd just had an auction, so, I guess I would probably never buy from them again but All in all I’m glad I did once Because I got to Have an overall turnaround and excellent customer service experience Because of Kara which I am so grateful for, Because every time I see “Rago arts” light up on antiques roadshow, I always Liked the people, Well, The front desk lady may not be friendly and One of the people might have been friendlier online than in (I don’t want to name names) But Kara was splendid the fees are high and you may end up paying out thirty percent then a fee for PayPal then another fee for Their taxes Whew! A $1, 000 bid ended up being almost $1, 500 when all was said and done, But I’m glad I went because Kara was awesome and Helped me Just love the building and My book she really was amazing and my other half thought so too She was the only that kept them from just walking out, she was wonderful and deserves a promotion
