Great online auction with fun "live" sale
Great to be able to bid online but even better that it is a live sale. Fun to watch the auctioneers and nice that they give you helpful hints/info about each piece being sold. Makes you feel like you are there with them.

Business not big enough to accommodate buyers
First time dealing with this auction. I tried to make appointment next day after auction. They told me by email they had no appointments. I paid for my stuff anyway. Then they are emailing back and forth said they might be able to squeeze me. I was done. Very unprofessional. Was told the parking is limited, in a residential area. I will not work with them again. Bidding and picking up shouldn’t be that complicated. Waste of my money and time.

Items Exactly as Described; Packaging Amazing
I was delighted with the Dept. 56 items won but utterly surprised by the wonderfully careful packing job. The box that showed up with the items was gigantic and, when opened, revealed each Dept. 56 items wrapped in large bubble wrap. And all items protected by layers of cardboard. Delivery might have been a little delayed but now I know why.

Excellent care in shipping

Gerald, I am sorry you were not happy with the UPS shipping that was done. We did not charge you that amount to ship. The box may have been light, but you bought about 9 train accessories that all had to be wrapped. They were not small either. The shipping charge is based off the size of the box, not the weight for future reference. They determine how much space it will take up.

I will never buy from them again.
They constantly spam the live auction chat with their annoying "hurry up and bid” and" final call "and" Don’t let it get away "automated posts. It floods the chat pushing legit messages off the screen, yet if you miss something important they wrote, that’s not their problem. They also expect you to be listening to the stream. That’s not always possible either. Some of us have obligations outside of auction buying. These guys are just like other brick and mortar auction houses who realized immense gains from jumping into online auctions during Covid, enjoying the windfall of having access to a virtual bidding floor from around the world, yet they still try and run their auctions like they’re a brick-and-mortar shop with captive bidders sitting right there. Guess what guys, the online auction world DOES NOT revolve around you and your auction items. People have jobs, responsibilities that take them away from their computer screens, your most reliable online buyers are bidding on dozens of items from dozens of auctioneers often at the same time. You assume, quite incorrectly, that your bidding audience is even able to listen to every word of your stream and reading every message in your absolutely flooded chat. An arrogant and ignorant position. I joined the start of an auction already in progress, saw a picture of a book and it’s seemingly low bidding price, so I bid it up, was outbid, then bid again and won, all in a manner of less than 10 seconds. I come to find later that the item was a FACSIMILE copy, NOT a reprint as they claimed. This was a replica book, right down to the ads. I asked them to cancel the sale once I confirmed this, but they refused." It’s in the title ," we said it in the stream ," we said it in the chat . I’m legally blind, The title gets cut off when zoomed in. I could not hear your stream. Your chat is useless, flooded with noise. I ended up paying $350 + for a book that sells for $5 Fine, I’ll eat it, and NEVER buy from them again.

This is simple. The title of the item has REPRINT, the description has REPRINT, When we streamed the auction we said this is a reprint and not an original, please do not return it or say we did not tell you. This was also written in the chat, live at the sale. Reprint and Facsimile are both not original which you claim you thought you were bidding on. We described it 100 % correctly and I can't control how you interpret a description. I was one of the first auction companies to do online auctions with LiveAuctioneers in 2004, so this is not a covid found awaking. I stand behind every lot we sell, if I had called it a first print and it wasn't then I would say send it back with a full refund.

I can't stress enough to please get a quote before bidding. Most buyers are happy and most contact the UPS store before they bid. Prices for shipping have increased for all carriers, your items were shipped from New Jersey to Washington State which is on the other end of the country. Also please be mindful, they pick it up, pack it, invoice it, boxes and all shipping materials as well as have to make a living too. I just bought several lots from another auction house in IL and it cost me over $500.00 to ship. This is the world we live in. No one is scamming and we do not get any kind of kick-backs. The new Live Ship from Liveauctioneers charges about the same so this is not a scam but the reality of shipping today. Sorry, you feel this way. Please get quotes before you bid. I can't stress this enough. Was it poorly packed? I do not know but had another 100 invoices go out with them and you are the first one to complain about the packing.

Mostly good, but expensive shipping and they put an auction sticker on it
I've had mostly good experiences with Bodnar's, especially when winning multiple items. For single items, the shipping price is always higher than average, and they occasionally apply 'Bodnars' stickers directly to the items I won, and they are difficult to remove and either leave paper or a nasty glue residue, which is problematic when the item I purchased is a collectible and the condition of the package impacts the value of the item.

We do normally put the stickers on with a paperclip on any item that is in a box or we are mindful of where we put them on all our items. They are stickers that are non permeant and do come off and sometimes you do need to use go be gone to get some residue off but we only put these on items that are glass or dishes. I'm sorry that something got stuck something you bought. Shipping is shipping, In-House we only charge a $12.00 fee to pack it and actual shipping. Liveship has the price on the listing and the UPS Store charges a bit more then we do but I can't control the price of shipping...

In this auction we used the new Live Ship from Liveauctioneers which has the shipping price on the listing before you bid so please take a look at it before you bid so there is no sticker shock. Sorry it was too expensive but I don't think they are out of line to the Local UPS Store or any shipping method you can use. Shipping just costs money.

Worst Experience I've Ever Had w/an Auction House to Get My Items
After contacting the auction house and indicating I would pick up in person and pay on arrival and receipt of the items they said they had 'disposed of my items and could not pick up anything.'. After stating 'I can't pay an invoice if I'm not picking up anything' the items miraculously reappeared from their 'disposal' and they then said I had to 'pay cash and all storage fees' when I picked up. This seemed very shady to me and its seems like they tried to keep me from picking up my items so they could try to resell them at a future auction. Only after extensive begging and stating this was the only time I could pay and pick up the items they actually let me come and claim my purchase. As a working professional an auction house should be willing to work with their customers to pick up their items in a reasonable time. Very disappointing, they were very rude and overall just wanted to charge me more or resale my items in the future for profit. Take this as a red flag for your future purchases. There were other items from the same auction I got my purchases from that clients were picking up the day I arrived and it didn't seem like they were giving them a hard time about it. They did give me an option to have UPS pick up and store my items but why should I have to pay more fees when other clients where picking up their items the same day as I was? Very inconsistent and rude.

I'm sorry you see it this way. I don't understand why you were confused, as our terms stated 1. You have 4 days to pay your invoice. You did not pay your invoice for almost 2 weeks (the sale was on the 7/20, we finally arranged for you to come on 8/1). 2. Our pick ups are from Friday to Monday and also clearly stated in the terms as well as each item description. 3. You called almost a week after the sale and said you wanted to pick up. My office informed you pick ups were over an we would gladly take your items to the UPS store for you to pick up there, as they do it all the time. We also informed you they do charge a storage fee. We didn't hear any response to that whatsoever. Then you called days later wanting the address as your boyfriend was in route to pick it up from us. So I let you know the items were no longer available.
