as expected, auction houses do not know what they sell

They used a 3rd party shipper who charged me over $100. for one box. My items were very poorly pack, as a result some items were destroyed. I would never use their shipper again.

I have been going to Bodnar's for years. They do a wonderful job. Before Covid they had very large auctions now, the auctions are smaller and they have done an excellent job adapting to this change. Joe is a friendly happy go lucky guy who has fun at his auctions. It really is an enjoyable experience if you attend his large auctions or the online versions. I give them 5 stars..... I picked up 2 dolls that were damaged; but I did not take the time to inspect them on site upon picking up-my mistake big time. 2 antique bisque head dolls that had OLD HAIRLINE DAMAGES (any knowledgeable doll person could see that the hairlines had been there for many years-darkened with age, so obvious!) My biggest complaint was that I SPECIFICALLY asked about 1 of the dolls prior to bidding, as to the condition of the head, and was told that "IT WAS PERFECT, NO DAMAGE WHATSOEVER." I could tell it was never inspected because the hair/bangs on the doll were stiff with hairspray and was never even lifted up to even inspect the head as I requested. Underneath the hair was a large, long, DARK hairline on the forehead. He told me that had I brought this to his attention, right when I picked up the dolls, he would have taken them back. Which is to be expected, however, who needs all that aggravation-when someone specifically requests a condition report, and gets a bogus reply (NO MATTER WHAT HE SAYS, IT WAS NOT INSPECTED-THE HARILINE WAS CLEARLY VISIBLE UPON LIFTING UP THE HAIR ON THE FACE). This did not happen upon moving the doll around in the warehouse, or possibly by me, as he so suggested to me. It was there all along. I can't speak to other items he may have sold, but going forward, I would NEVER AGAIN buy any antique dolls from him that require better inspections and full disclosure as to any damages they have, upon listing them. I would not recommend buying antique dolls from him; BEWARE OF THIS AUCTIONEER.

One item arrived damaged in shipping. Wrote multiple times-no reply. Filed Visa charge back. No reply. Item was least expensive of 3 I won. I don't understand it. What a pain over $35.

Were responsive to inquiries. Scheduling a pickup slot took some back and forth, but worked out. Pickup was organized, items were conveniently grouped together at pickup site for ease.

Item exactly as described, the whole process was easy, inhouse shipping was reasonable, and item came quickly. Very pleased. No hesitation to do business here again.

Auction has excellent follow through and communication was very quick and shipping was spot on.

They include broken and sub-par merchandise in what they sell so check it out carefully before you buy. I had to learn this lesson the hard way by paying good money for merchandise that simply needed to be thrown out.

I recently won an item from Bodnar's, and they could not have been nicer. The item arrived exactly as described, very quickly, and packaged very careefully. it was crystal, and there was not a chip anywhere. Kudos to Bodnar's and the UPS store!
