The auction house just filed a dispute over this item which I bought after it was offered for the second time I found out later that this buyer did not pay for it for the same reason I do'nt: It is a fake (that also means the seller knew about that). Unfortunately I only found out after the auction that there is a catalogue raisonne in preparation by the Gallery Alain Le Gaillard in Paris in collaboration with the daughter of Tutundjian. I wrote to Mr. Le Gaillard and after having been sceptical right away he asked Mrs. Tutundjian whose response was negative. The painting is a fake bearing a false signature. I told Art Torg that I will not pay for this piece, which he described as Tutundjian wthout adding something like "in the style of" or "attributed to". I think he knew at least after the first sale that it was a fake. And I also think he could have done the same research as I did before putting it on auction. I am an honest buyer and I expect the same from the seller. I am sorry for the dispute.

They did not describe condition and repairs, referring the viewer to the scan. The scan was small with no details and did not show the restoration, which was visible on the reverse of the sheet when it arrived. In selling prints, particularly old masters, it is vital to mention and describe damages and restorations.
