I had the pleasure of buying from Arches Royalty Gallery during a work trip to SD, and the timing couldn't have been better-I arrived just as they were hosting an auction. I ended up purchasing a couple of beautiful woodblock prints and was impressed by how accommodating the owner Raul was when I explained I needed to leave town the next day. He arranged for immediate pickup right after the auction concluded, which was incredibly helpful given my tight schedule. Raul was particularly friendly and knowledgeable, taking time to discuss the pieces and share his passion for the art. What really caught my attention was learning about his upcoming trip to Japan to source more prints for the US market. It's clear he's dedicated to bringing authentic, quality pieces to collectors here, and I'm excited to see what he discovers on his travels. I'd definitely recommend the auction house especially if you're interested in woodblock prints or Japanese art. The personal touch and genuine enthusiasm for the artwork really sets this place apart.

Everything was great and went smoothly

Everything went well until the item was shipped. The item was put in a thin plastic sleeve, like the ones that can be but into a ring binder. This was taped to a foam board which was slightly too small for it. There were two more foam boards put on top and underneith it. The whole thing was wrapped over and over in clear palstic packing tape, about two or three times. A label was slapped on it and out it went. Unwrapping this was a huge chore. It took over an hour. I had to do it carefully because I did not know exactly how it was wrapped on the inside and was nervous about destroying the print. Cutting the sides to open it up was difficult because there was extra couple of layers of tape on the edges, and I could see through the clear tape that something was sticking out and overlapping one of the layers. Pulling up the tape off on the inner plastic sleeve caused some wrinkles to appear in the item that was inside.

I was very happy with the order. They threw in some description pages and cover page in the whole set of print I bought. Well packaged.

This auction went great. Everyone was very accommodating. The shipping had a once-in-a-lifetime "kerfuffle" all on the USPS. I finally got my items and they were just as I was hoping they would be. So, in all, I had a great experience.

I thought all of the bidding would be done online but i found out that the auction was live. This being my first time I was a little nervous and concerned that I might mess up or be too late. As it happened I felt the pace and the ability to change my bid and the rest of it was pretty easy to use. Thanks for a good experience.

I'm very pleased and always look forward to the next auction. I believe this was my fifth auction purchase with Arches Royalty. The prices are great, the buyer's premium is super low (currently 0 %), the shipping costs are reasonable, and the prints have always arrived safely. Customer service has always been friendly and polite whenever I have asked questions. And my experience has been that the prints are typically better than shown in the photos (e. g., older paper-not a recent reprint). My only wish is that they will hopefully broaden their selection beyond primarily Hiroshige, Hokusai and Toshi Yoshida. Two thumbs up!

This was my third or fourth auction purchase with Arches Royalty. They have been consistently quick and friendly/polite in their responses to my questions. For the price point, the quality of the prints has been very good, often exceeding my expectations. Prints are packed (safely) in-house, and shipping is quick. And you can't beat the very low buyer's premium. Two thumbs from me! Looking forward to browsing the catalog for the next auction!
