Few auction houses feature artwork that is as reliably interesting as the offerings at Brandywine Valley Auctions where there’s always an appealing mix on the docket, and the auction house now provides in-house shipping. From their most recent auction, my painting arrived at my home with lightning-fast delivery, in bubble-wrap packaging that was thoughtfully easy to remove. A terrific assortment of paintings up for auction with safe, speedy delivery: I can’t ask for more than that.

Joe arranged to have this painting professionally cleaned for me following the auction. It took a while but the results were really worth it. It is absolutely beautiful and the colors really pop. I won't be doing business with this auction house again. First, I was sent an erroneous invoice. I tried to email the auction house several times to get it revised and received no response. I tried to call, but the auction house phone number is for an individual and routes to a full mailbox, so worthless. I finally had to contact LiveAuctioneers directly to get the invoice corrected (Thank you Tony!). I did finally receive a single message response indicating that my lots would ship. Unfortunately, the packing was very poor, with large and small works simply placed between thin paperboard, but with nothing held in place. The smaller works moved continuously in shipping, beating up the corners and smudging the surfaces. Of course there were no slip sheets to prevent surface damage. Overall, the auction house performed very poorly, failing to communicate and failing to pack properly — particularly when one of the works sold for over a thousand dollars and the group of lots cost several times that. Amateurish, at best.

I called 3 times for further details on 2 lots. Each time my questions were answered in detail by the exceptionally well mannered owner. Packing was great and shipping quick. Thank You.

Won a lot of 8 relatively easy to ship items from Brandywine on October 25, 2020. Was advised that a third-party shipper, DAKS Global Logistics, would pick up items and arrange payment and shipping with with me. Pickup took at least two weeks, and items were not shipped, many weeks after payment made in full, until Dec. 9 after a series of reminder emails to DAKS and contacting Brandywine. I'm convinced that the items would have been overlooked indefinitely had I not been diligent and followed up several times over the course of 6 weeks. This is unacceptable. On a positive note, the items were packed well and arrived in good condition. However, I would still hesitate in bidding at Brandywine unless I was assured a different third-party shipper would be handling my items. It doesn't matter how well packed something is if it's never shipped.

Brandywine Valley Auctions contacted me after the auction because I was a little late with payment, my bad! But they were so nice, and courteous, and all arrangements were made with ease. This is the first review I've left for an auction house because I was so impressed with them.
