July 8 - Estate Auction

Opportunities abound for longtime collectors and auction novices alike at every monthly Estate Auction. Featured in July: Chihuly glass, Mid-Century Modern art and jewelry, fine European dolls, and collectible clocks. Watercolors by California muralist and designer Millard Sheets (1907-1989) are among the fine works by American artists. "Dog in Booth," a signed original photographer's print by Elliot Erwitt, is estimated at $1,500-2,000. Dale Chihuly's nesting bowls, $3,000-4,000, will attract art glass collectors and many more bidders eager to own his widely known and much-loved work. The jewelry department is pleased to offer two striking Danish modern necklaces by A. Michelsen, each estimated at $800-1,200. Designer pieces by Tiffany, Cartier, and Rolex, fine jewelry featuring diamonds, coral, and jade will also be sold. A Native American squash blossom necklace and a charming Art Nouveau brooch are in the mix. Bisque porcelain dolls from Germany and France are among the auction highlights, as are Navajo blankets, Persian rugs, and two fine novelty automaton clocks. Estate furniture, Chinese scroll paintings, and Asian art collectibles made of porcelain, exotic woods, and rare jade are among the treasures to discover at Michaan's in July.
