Unreserved Tobacco Jars, MCM, Asian

The sale includes an extensive one owner collection of figural tobacco humidors, remaining contents of the Cudner-Hyatt house Scarsdale and several partial estate contents from Dutchess and Westchester Counties, Englewood NJ and others. A wonderful collection of figural humidors by makers Johann Maresch, Bernard Boch, Wilhelm Schiller, Ferdinand Gerbing and others offered unreserved throughout the evenings' auction. From the rarest Black Americana to the comical German and Austrian to the large group of Conta and Boehme all in fairly remarkable condition. A Chappaqua husband and wife who had early entre to the Chinese government warehouses consigned a large group of porcelain objects, mostly in Shuangxi and Guangxu style as well as two antique Mesopotamian jars purchased in Israel in the 1970's. From their flagship store in California comes one of the grandest carved Victorian display bookcases purportedly having survived the San Francisco earthquake. Art includes works by Robert Emmett Owen, John K. Hansegger, Dorothy Deyrup, Frank Mose, Purvis Young, Charles Napier, Levon West and 3 commissioned portraits of the Gabor sisters by Endre Koempoeczi-Balogh. MCM includes a McCobb Perimeter group room dividing etegere, an early 1973 Silas Seandel wall sculpture, a pair of Robsjohn Gibbons upholstered chairs, Dokka Mobbler and P. Jeppesen tables, A Pace Rosen cabinet, chairs by Folke Ohlsson and lighting by Sonneman and Svend Sorensen and more. Other highlights , a signed J. E. Caldwell polychromed torchiere base, a fine Loetz type chandelier with brass elephants, an excellent carved green marble pedestala 17th century German Main Franken desk Wuerzburg with extensive provenance & Persian carpets The Scarsdale Historical Society has occupied the Cudner-Hyatt 18th century home in Scarsdale for decades and has closed it's doors, few highlights include several surveyors items by Berger, Hewitt, and Brandis, a large one lot collection of fluters & more.
