Prehistoric and Historic Artifact Auction

We are pleased to introduce the Kenneth Rowland and Capt. Thomas Miller Collections. Kenneth Rowland assembled a large and varied collection of prehistoric artifacts over 40 years ago. It has remained virtually untouched since that time. Included in this offering are many of Ken's Midwestern Spades, his 17 piece Adena Cache and a wonderful Copena Celt Cache. Capt. Thomas Miller, USN-Retired, grew up in Elizabethtown, Kentucky. After a distinquished naval career, he settled in Hawaii. He actively added to his artifact collection and later sold the bulk of his artifacts in the 1980's. The artifacts represented in this sale are some of his more important relics, those he had retained for use in the educational field (as an educator at the prestigious Iolani School in Honolulu. Included in this offering are Thomas' Anasazi Woven Yucca Sandals. Collected in 1957, they are one of the finest pair known. Also look for the site-specific material from the Thomas collection, including the "Watts Cave Critters". Rounding out this auction is a fine consignment of top shelf Axes and large Flint Spears from the Steve Elwood Collection, as well as a special consignment of artifacts from the Matt Roos Collection. Ted Walter's collection from the Fremont (IN) Bank will be introduced in this sale. Many of you may remember the Fremont Bank collection being sold several years ago. The Indiana Bank was known for the prehistoric artifact collection it had on display. Ted Walter (bank officer) has consigned his personal collection, retained when the bank collection sold. It is a fine selection of Flintridge Dovetails, Early Archaic Flint as well as a variety of other artifacts. Some specific, notable items: A vibrant red Caddo Haley Engraved Bottle, four Townsend Dovetails from his well known "Gray LaDassor Frame", a Passenger Pigeon Great Pipe, an 11"+ Chesterfield Blade, and one of the finest Haida-Tlingit Grease Bowls ever offered. Don't miss this opportunity.
