Spring Selections Auction

Stefek?s Spring Selections auction presents a variety of rare books, pottery, and selections of fine furniture. Featured in rare books is an 1837 leather-bound edition of Charles Dickens? ?The Posthumous Papers of the Pickwick Club? and a 1848 red leather-bound edition of William Thackeray?s ?Vanity Fair? with attached watercolor sketch to the interior. Other selections of rare books include a thirty-two volume leather-bound set of the ?Works of Charles Dickens?, a leather-bound 1898 set of Alfred Lord Tennyson?s ?The Life and Works?, a unique first-edition copy of Nathaniel Hawthorne?s ?The Scarlet Letter? from the personal collection of Eugene Field, and a leather-bound and inscribed volume of Eugene Field?s ?Love Songs of Childhood?. Several lots of Dedham Pottery will be presented, in a variety of patterns including the rabbit pattern, polar bear, elephant, dolphin, and moth and butterfly pattern. A hand-painted set of eighteen 1926 Royal Worcester gilt plates decorated by artist W.J. Bagnall will be offered, in addition to a set of nine hand-painted Royal Worcester gilt plates decorated by R. Rushton. A unique selection of paintings will be on offer, including an original oil by Richard Plasschaert, a Robert Natkin acrylic on canvas, and two works by Richard Jerzy. A floral oil on canvas by French-Vietnamese artist Le Pho is the highlight of the fine art selection. A gelatin silver photograph by W. Eugene Smith, ?Walk to Paradise Garden?, rounds out the highlights of our fine art selection. For consideration in the fine furniture selection, Stefek?s presents a set of Henri II Style bedroom furniture, several pieces of 19th century tables and tea tables, and a Queen Anne style double-dome secretary with built-in light fixtures.
