With this single owner sale we are pleased to be offering a portion of the Robert Osborne personal collection of movie memorabilia. Mr. Osborne?s passion, dedication and knowledge of motion pictures shines brightly in this vast collection. With memorabilia spanning from the 1920?s to date are collections of movie posters in all sizes, lobby cards, autographed photographs and letters, awards, publicity, still, wire and fine art photos, campaign books, press kits and more. Movie posters include a scarce 3 sheet Pride of the Yankees in Excellent condition as well as Pride of the Yankees photos highlighted by a Babe Ruth signed photograph. Autographed pieces include items signed by Walt Disney, Babe Ruth, Lucille Ball, Bette Davis, Jimmy Stewart, Katherine Hepburn, Audrey Hepburn, Lana Turner, Elizabeth Taylor, Ingrid Bergman, James Stewart, Olivia de Haviland, Laurence Olivier, Julie Andrews, Gene Wilder, James Earl Jones, Barbra Streisand, Sylvester Stallone, Carrie Fisher, Christopher Reeve and hundreds more. There are hundreds of publicity and production still photographs. This sale is highlighted by Richard Day?s 1936 Academy Award Oscar® statuette for Art Direction of The Dark Angel with the following provenance, formerly the personal collection of Robert Osborne, then by descent through family of Mr. Osborne. Rivaling the Oscar statuette is Mr. Osborne?s personal copy of the book he authored. "50 Golden Years of Oscar: The Official History of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences," hardcover, w/dust jacket, by Robert Osborne, printed in 1979, with a special presentation page in front reading in part "Personal Copy for Robert Osborne."
