Fine Black & White Photographica_XV
We are honored to acknowledge March as 'Women's History Month', and are therefore presenting mankind's better half as our Featured Lots in this auction. Several properties throughout the listing are either photograph['s] of, or by women. The origins of Women's History Month stem from 1981 when Congress passed legislation authorizing the President's proclamation. Among representative Lots are four photolithographs by Mathilde Weil, plus Rudolph Koppitz, Gertrude Kasebier, Edward Curtis' "Two Apache Women at Campfire"; and No Reserve Cabinet Cards by Stephens and Gibson, as well as No Reserve Carte de Visites by Hardy and Black of Boston. The 2021 theme designated by women's history activists is "Valiant Women of the Vote: Refusing to Be Silenced."
