FINE ART & ANTIQUE

The sale is set to include a small collection of Japanese katana and wakizashi spanning the 18th through 20th century. Chinese and Japanese artwork including Satsuma, Imari, Sung style ceramics, pottery, jade and scroll paintings of the 19th and early 20th century. Among the more interesting Chinese ceramics is a green glazed puzzle pot with dragon spout and handle a collector note adhered to the side reads; Tea pot, green glaze stoneware, made in Cochin China, bought in Osaka November 4, 1889, to be filled from the bottom, ex-collection Ben Birillo. Several lots of Japanese woodblock prints including work by Shosan Ohara and several Paul Jacoulet woodblocks as well. For the porcelain and pottery collector there will be many lots of interest including a Redware slip decorated plate, Gouda “Collier” vase, superb English yellow ware figural inkwell pen stand with spaniel, Gardner Russian porcelain figure of a peasant and Russian porcelain figure of Sadko, Doulton Burslem large flow blue turkey platter, Copeland Spode Chinese platter and many others. As with all of our sales notable artwork will be offered including oil on canvas being offered as follower of Edward Henry Potthast, Figures on the Beach, signed. A pair of American portraits attributed to Zedekiah Belknap, descended through the Proctor-Welsh families of Utica, New York, circa 1830. An Italian gouache of the Bay of Naples with Mt. Vesuvius erupting and a set of Currier and Ives, American Homestead Seasons lithographs of the period and in period frames. Also being offered is a collection of vintage and antique clothing including an Edwardian black day dress in remarkable condition, Victorian plaid taffeta dress and jacket, 1920’s flapper wedding dress with stockings and shoes, Tuxedo accessories and shoes, vintage lawn dresses and morning coats all in fantastic condition.
