Decorative Arts Auction - January 16th
Treadway is pleased to announce their January 16th Decorative Arts auction in Cincinnati. This sale includes ceramics, furniture, lighting, art glass and fine art spanning multiple movements.
This auction includes works by numerous Arts & Crafts makers. Some wonderful examples of Gustav Stickley are featured from the collection of Richard Gere - a large cabinet estimated at $15,000 to $25,000 as well as a rare sideboard expected to bring upwards of $10,000. Settees from both Gustav and L. & J.G. are also featured, as well as a rare bench and table by Limbert. Ceramics include a large and beautiful Newcomb College vase by Henrietta Bailey, estimated at $5,500 to $7,500 and numerous beautifully painted Rookwood vases. Charming boxes and silver works by Liberty, Camberwell School, Archibald Knox and Gertrude Twichell offer buyers a wide selection.
Fine art features a Palmer Hayden oil on canvas from a Midwest collection estimated at $25,000 to $35,000. From the same collection comes a John Steuart Curry oil offered at $8,000 to $11,000. A bright and graphic oil on canvas by Lebanese artist Saliba Douaihy is expected to bring $15,000 or more.
European Art Nouveau glass in this auction features nice examples by Galle, Daum, Loetz, and more from collections across the Midwest and East coast.
Lighting by Tiffany Studios is included, with numerous lamps from a Pasadena collection offered from $7,000 to $15,000. A fine Dirk Van Erp copper and mica example from Richard Gere?s collection is expected to bring $10,000 to $15,000.
