Continuation of the liquidation of a 78-year-old map seller's private collection. Most of these items have never been offered in any venue. Featured are excellent examples from Anthony Finley’s extremely scarce 1833 New General Atlas, Mathew Carey's also immeasurably scarce 1816 General Atlas, and S. Augustus Mitchell atlases from 1848, 1853, 1864, 1865 and 1874. In addition, there are maps from Orlando Gray’s 1875 and 1884 scarce National Atlases, plus many more Johnson, Colton, Cram, McNally, and other mostly American map publishers of the past. Several beautiful celestial maps from E. J. Burrit's 1835 unique atlas are present, as well as maps from Potter-Bradley’s scarce 1894 atlas—one of the last atlases to feature hand-colored maps. Late 17th-century maps from Morden and Mallet appear, and even a couple from the nearly rare 1723 DeFer Petit Nouveau Atlas. NOTE: All maps are authentic, antique documents 100 years old or older. Maps are in collectible condition, usually very good or better. All stated sizes refer to the printed image, not the paper. (Paper size can be as much as 60% larger than print size, depending on the margins).
