Fine Jewelry Horse Asian Antiques Artwork

WELCOME! We have an amazing collection of horse related items from the estate of John Barr (1930-2023), owner of Oakcrest Stables, former director of Oak Tree Racing Assn and President of the California Thoroughbred Breeders Assn. Barr, originally an oil man and real estate developer, was heavily involved in horse racing for the last half century. As a prominent breeder, he had several winning race horses, you can find some of his trophies here. His love of horses is evident in the collection you see here from Lladro to Tiffany and everything in between. The Barr's loved art whether it was displayed on shelves or hung on a wall like an original LeRoy Neiman jockey painting from 1965. His wife shared her love of horses with a fine selection of jewelry, some featuring horses and others, just beautiful, including a spectacular 1.8CTW diamond ring set in 18K gold and platinum that was appraised for almost $40,000 in 2004, and other beautiful fine jewelry. He and his wife were avid travelers and picked up a wonderful assortment of horse and non horse related decorative pieces including some terrific vintage and antique items from various countries, Japan, China and more which they were able to get shipped back to the US for free. Some of the pieces in the Barr collection date as far back as the 11th century like an amazing Buddha bust or the stunning 19th Century Korean Joseon Dynasty scholar chest. Speaking of Asian pieces, we have additional items from an avid collector with gorgeous pieces that range from porcelains and wood and jade carvings from the Han Dynasty, Ming Dynasty and Guangxu of the Qing dynasty, to name a few and also had a wonderful assortment of very fine jewelry. Other pieces come from a Japanese designer shop near downtown Los Angeles that closed in the early 1970s. When the store closed, those items were placed in storage and haven't seen the light of day until they were brought to our auctions. Just a tease of what's to come!
