Session 1: Chinese Jade and Ceramics
Oakridge?s annual September sale, ?Autumn 2023 Fine Chinese Art and Antiques?,
kicks off in its first of four sessions with ?Chinese Jade and Ceramics?. Totaling 151 lots, the sale opens with a curated selection of jades. Varied in type and period, dating as far back as the Ming dynasty, the offerings include plaques, jewelry, and sculptures carved from white jade, yellow jade, jadeite, and chicken-bone-jade. Praised among them are an 18th century carved chicken-bone jade zodiac plaque and a kinetic-carved jade censer. Also appearing within this stone selection are offerings of carved crystal, coral, amber, and agate. As the sale moves into the ceramics section, collectors will still enjoy a variety of Lots. Oakridge?s ceramic offerings showcase sancai, falangcai, and guan-type glazes from several periods; notably Qianlong, Kangxi, Xianfeng, and Republic periods along with Lots dating prior to the 18th century. A highlight among these ceramic offerings are a stunning pair of famille rose porcelain plaques by Wang Dafan (Chinese, Republic period) and a pristine falangcai garlic-mouth vase decorated with a delicate figural scene.
