Session 2: Chinese Ceramics and Works of Art
Oakridge Auction Gallery presents on their second day of ?Autumn 2023 Fine Chinese Art and Antiques?, Chinese Ceramics and Works of Art. Comprising 167 Lots, the sale continues to offer exceptional ceramics, as seen on day one. Notably Lots of blue and white porcelains from the 15th/16th century and Tongzhi period; as well as ceramics from the Kangxi period and biscuit-ware Buddhist sculptures by Zeng Longsheng (Chinese, 1901-1964). Unique to this session is its diverse offering of Chinese decorative arts including cinnabar, lacquer, carved wood, zisha and cloisonne works. Preeminent of these vivid scarlet works is a pair of carved cinnabar hat stands dating to the Qianlong period. Lacquer selections range from sculptures to a gilt-lacquer ?dragon? box from the 18th century. The carved wood lots include a rare huanghuali ?chilong? box of the 16th/17th century and carved brush pots of the 18th century. The second half of the session offers a pristine selection of zisha teapots, climaxing with a bamboo-form teapot by Zhu Kexin (Chinese, 1904-1986). Immediately following this section is a stunning collection of Buddhist works of art comprising gilt-bronze buddha and bodhisattva sculptures, a pair of 18th century thangkas, and a rare gilt-dry lacquered seated Buddha from the Ming dynasty.
