Onslows Summer Auction of Vintage Posters

Our first of two auctions for 2012 is for Fine and in many cases rare and extremely desirable Vinatage Posters, we have a great selection to suit collectors, with estimates ranging from below £100 up to £10,000 for the very finest. We are specialists in British Posters and this time we are offering some great examples of classic railway posters including the beautiful and very rare LMS "Southport" Lido by Fortunino Matania, also both versions of Helen McKie's Southern Railway's Waterloo Station in War and In Peace, the Wartime poster is much rarer than the other and this is the second only copy we have ever sold. From the Second World War we have on offer Fougasse's Careless Talk Cost Lives series of eight small posters, four fine Spainish Civil War posters from 1937, and four unusual British Territorial Army posters dating from just after 1920 including a humourous design by Bruce Bairnsfather. Other areas of interest include four early Shell posters by Charles Fouqueroy, and a good collection of David Klein TWA posters. Lastly some rare survivors of the late 19th Century are a collection of advertising showcards, products cover Beer, Biscuits and Tobacco.
