Porcelain from The Dalva Brothers Collection: June 6
The porcelain offerings in The Dalva Brothers Collection reflect the depth of their enthusiasm and expertise for European Decorative Art. Included is a refined selection of French Rococo and Neoclassical porcelain from the manufactories of Vincennes/Sèvres, Saint Cloud and Mennecy. Finely painted cups and saucer, cabinet plates, and floral service wares compliment biscuit figures and flower-encrusted pot-pourri vases. Parisian biscuit porcelain firms such as Locret and the comte d'Artois Rue du Faubourg Saint Denis enhance the figure groups and a large pair of gold-ground two-handled vases from Darte Frères add prominence to the sale. This complement is augmented by German examples from Meissen including Kakiemon inspired wares, figure groups such as the Drunken Silenus, a regal stag, a swash buckling sword and other fine ornaments.
