African Artifacts and Textiles- Dr. Gould

Our final auction of African material culture from the estate of legendary New York collector, Professor Philip Gould (1922 - 2019) Featuring rare and authentic examples of 3rd - 10th century Coptic textiles, early 20th century West African textiles, 19th and early 20th century metal currencies and ornaments, 13th - 17th century West African terracotta, as well as an assortment of more recent wood figures, masks, jewelry, and tribal books and catalogs. Professor Gould collected heavily during the last quarter of the 20th century, when excellent examples of currencies, textiles, bronze ornaments and terracotta were still available in Africa. Indeed, some of the pieces offered in this auction have been exhibited at academic institutions and/or galleries in North America. Take this final opportunity to acquire items from Professor Gould?s collection, much of which hasn?t been available on the market for more than a quarter century.
