August 2025 Premiere Auction Event
ACME Auctions LLC
It is a rare occasion when an original-owner Golden Age comic collection emerges from obscurity but once again, the market is graced with such a discovery. We are honored to present a concise yet remarkable assemblage of comic books acquired in the early to mid-1940s in the great state of Maine. This collection features, among others, Marvel Mystery Comics, Prize Comics, Hangman, Adventure Comics, Wonder Woman, Batman, Captain America Comics, Sensation Comics, Action Comics, and Superman - most of which are identified with the same small inscription on each cover.
Complementing this remarkable find are select highlights from other distinguished collections, including a pristine CGC 9.8 copy of Sports Illustrated No. 1 from 1954 with White pages which is the highest grade ever awarded to this iconic premiere issue. We're also throwing in a Mickey Mantle first cover appearance for good measure.
Additionally, the auction will showcase a small selection of Star Wars toys, a broader array of comic books from various collections, and an eclectic assortment of cultural artifacts spanning the past century. We will be adding more lots over the coming weeks so check back often and clear your calendar for Auction day! You won't want to miss it!
