Arms, Armor and Militaria

Cowan’s Auctions is proud to present their 2025 Fall Premier Arms, Armor & Militaria sale with a fine selection of historical arms as well as some fine sporting arms for the collector. The bulk of the historical arms come from the Lifetime Collection of Robert G Paulsen and include a wide assortment of quality US military arms, primarily from the period of the American Civil War. Mr. Paulsen’s collection initially focused on the US Model 1861 Rifle Musket and its variants and numerous contract makers but later expanded to include the bayonets for those long arms, carbines, handguns, accoutrements and artillery. Highlights from the collection include a Fine & Scarce Joslyn Monkey Tail Carbine (Lot #2075), a Very Rare Suhl Contract US Model 1861 Rifle Musket by Christian Funk (Lot #2170), a Merrill Breechloading Rifle (Lot #2112) and a Fine US Model 1855 Pistol Carbine with Matching Numbered Stock (Lot #2029). We are also pleased to present Part II of the Bill Beard Collection of Confederate Arms, with some of the highlights including The Etched Blade Thomas Leech & Company Cavalry Officer’s Saber of Lt. Moses M Box of the 10th TN Cavalry (Lot #2067) and a Restored Leech & Rigdon Revolver #680 (Lot #2056). Other lots of interest to the Civil War collector include a 2nd Quality Marked Confederate Whiteworth Rifle #922 (Lot #2057) and what may be the only surviving example of an Extremely Rare Confederate Bayonet Scabbard by N Crown & Company of Columbus, GA (Lot #2058).
